Terminala Chebula

Haritaki (Terminala Chebula) is a fruit that grows on a large tree found throughout India, in deciduous forests. There are seven different types of Haritaki fruit, all having their own unique look, flavor and benefits to health. Ancient Ayurvedic text says the following, "Haritaki is beneficial to mankind more than a mother to a child. Even mother can sometimes get angry from her children, but Haritaki never hurts its users." It's embedded in the history of Ayurveda to revere nature and the roles that the foods given us by nature play. Haritaki is also one of the three ingredients of Triphala. Triphala is one of Ayurveda's most utilized, studied and admired formulations. It has promising anti-cancer studies in the books and underway.

Benefits of Terminala Chebula:

1)#It maintains as a soft detoxification agent, nurtures the tissues, assists in managing weight and improves eyesight, shoots up energy levels, provides support to the nervous and the immune system, provides positive effects to the skin, and is useful for patients of asthma and bronchitis.

2)#Terminalia chebula is also commonly known as ‘Harar’ an age old remedy to relieve constipation. In Ayurveda, Haritaki is considered as mother of all herbs. Ayurveda considers ‘Vayu’ as a major culprit for hypertension. ‘Haritaki’ in combination with another two herbs ‘Amla’ and ‘Bahera’ makes the famous Ayurvedic preparation ‘Triphala’. Triphala is best combination to get rid of hypertension, constipation and high cholesterol. Haritaki alone is very useful for lowering down blood cholesterol levels as well as controlling bouts of hypertension.

3)#There are actually seven types of haritaki fruit; each one a little different both in appearance and medicinal qualities. The haritaki has similar properties and functions as its companion amalaki. The haritaki is most commonly used in Ayurveda. It aides in detoxification, digestion, and improves immunity.

4)#Haritaki is one of the mildest and safest laxatives used in Ayurvedic medicine. It prevents blood clotting. Haritaki is a stomachic; it improves the functioning of the stomach and facilitates digestion. Haritaki is used to improve all nutritional imbalances in the system, and looks after the entire digestive, absorptive, assimilative and excretory process.

5)#Haritaki is also used as a purgative in ayurvedic treatments. It is also used as a tonic and expectorant. Haritaki is also known to pocess strong anti-mutagenic properties. Haritaki is used in the treatment of mouth ulcers, stomatitis, asthma, cough, candidiasis, gastroenteritis, skin diseases, leprosy ect. It is also used for treatment of intermittent fever, rheumatic pain and fever, wounds and arthritis. Haritaki is one of the best herbs for treatment of Vatadosha. It is used as a natural remedy for Vata disturbances like flatulence, indigestion ect. Haritaki is contradicted in person with weak digestion and also in pregnancy. Haritaki is also believed to improve intelligence and alertness in a person.

6)#Terminalia Chebula can be seen to be a valuable addition to anyones herbal collection. With its rejuvenating and cleansing properties, Terminalia Chebula is excellent for the digestive system. As a preventative supplement it has great anti viral attributes, as shown by its antitumor and HIV action. It is also effective for alleviating constipation in general, and is helpful for vata persons because it works in the triphala formula, which is a well-balanced digestive and rejuvenating aid.
